At their heart lies Whitehaven Beach, seven kilometres of silica sand so fine and white it squeaks underfoot, swirling into the turquoise shallows at Hill Inlet. Most of these islands are uninhabited national park, fringed by living reef and reachable only by boat or seaplane.
